Our Vision

As an unique competence centre  for cross-cultural and transnational education, we become the partner of choice for the development of educational capacities and potentials of innovation between Germany and the countries in the MENA region. We are convinced that high-quality education is an important building block for the sustainable development of the economies and societies of the MENA region.

Our Mission

Bildungsbau offers consulting services for existing or future educational institutions in the countries of the MENA region to successfully master current and future challenges with the aim of achieving and sustainably establishing excellent educational standards along the entire education chain from kindergarten to university.

Our Values

Our Team

Our team of experts provides inderdisciplinary backgrounds with strong professional experiences in the transnational context of education in Germany and the MENA countries.

Prof. Rayan Abdullah

Born in Iraq, Rayan came to Germany in the 1980s to study at the Hochschule der Künste Berlin. After successfully studying visual communication and cultural education, he worked as a designer for well-known agencies before founding his own design agency, Markenbau, in 2001. At the same time, Rayan was appointed Professor of Typography at the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig (HGB) . Thanks to his bilingualism, he became a bridge builder between the Occident and Orient, and not only in the field of typeface development.

Since 2004, Rayan, as founding dean of the Faculty of Design, has played a key role in the establishment and development of the German University in Cairo (GUC). Further university foundations, such as the German International University Berlin, have benefited from this experience. In numerous specialist publications, he explains topics that characterise the next generation.

Simone Gebhardt

Simone has eleven years of teaching experience at primary and secondary schools as well as grammar schools at state and public schools in Baden-Württemberg and Saxony. Through her diploma in media education, she became an editor at Cornelsen Verlag Berlin and spent 15 years developing print and digital textbook series for music from primary school to the Abitur.

As a freelance editor for various publishing houses, media companies and the Markenbau agency, she rounds off her specialisms - from music and German to art and design. As a guest lecturer, she holds workshops at universities and also works as a product and design manager in professional further education.

Alexander Turnwald

Alexander has 20 years of professional experience as project and business development manager, consultant and trainer in numerous international higher education and TVET projects for governments, public institutions and private companies.
